Your Wart Removal Treatment at ICLS

Warts are skin lesions caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Common warts are commonly seen on the fingers and backs of the hands, while plantar warts are found only on the bottom of the feet. These warts can be singular or multiple (known as mosaic warts), and if they appear over pressure areas, they can be painful. Warts are highly contagious, and there is a risk of spreading them to other parts of the body, especially if they are irritated or scratched.

Treatment options for warts vary depending on their type and location. For instance, topical agents and Carbon Dioxide Laser (CO2) are effective in removing single, large plantar warts or common warts, but these treatments can be uncomfortable and require 2-3 treatments with variable success. In cases where patients show little to no response to CO2, Pulsed Dye Laser with Immunotherapy may be necessary. Immunotherapy entails injecting the wart with an antigen (usually Candida), which promotes the production of antibodies that target and destroy the HPV virus. The Pulsed Dye Laser works by emitting a powerful beam of light into the wart, which damages the vessels supplying the wart with blood. The combination of both procedures works well in removing most warts.
